Sunday Blast from the Past – August 2009

Way back in 2009 I was doing a whole lot of testing and thanks to a good friend Holli we did some shots in the little wooded area behind her house in Canterbury.
When I started doing off camera lighting I generally used one light, thanks to the great workshop DVD by Zack Arias. If you have time go check it out as it really opened my eyes.

Back in 2009 I didn’t have a lot of equipment either so the one light method suited me perfectly. All I used was a small standard flashgun connected to a 2 foot softbox. Although it was a sunny day the trees provided enough shade that I didn’t have to overpower the sun (a real problem with battery powered flashguns).

Thanks to the data recorded inside each photo we are able to see that I shot a shutter speed of 1/160th and f/4.0 with an ISO of 100.

Check back next week for another blast from the past with a few helpful hints and tips.
