Here’s a few tips to help you decide what to bring

The biggest misconception for portraits is that everyone in the picture should be matching. That is not true, It’s okay to mix patterns and fabrics as long as the colours tie everything together.

Keep clothes simple, avoid logo, busy patterns, and anything that will distract attention away from your face.

Clothes

Bring clothes that you feel good in, the clothes that you love, and that complement your personality, Remember, you’re the model during your photo session.
You’ll be moving around during your time here…sitting, standing, moving, perhaps laying down, so bring clothes that allow you to do that while you’re looking great.

We love variety, beautiful dresses, formals, casual clothes, sweaters, jackets, jeans, shorts…they all have their place.

Guys, a suit or jacket paired with jeans is a great option but bring more outfits than you think we can use. Did we say variety? Remember, you’ll want outfits that your parents, grand-parents AND you will all love.

Props

Bringing personal items can help make your session even more meaningful.
Some ideas you get you started.

Newborns: hats, headbands, sentimental items like the quilt Grandma made for the baby, or a baby blanket from your own childhood.
Kids: bubbles, balloons, giant lollipops, costumes, sunglasses.
Maternity: ultrasound printouts, alphabet blocks that spell your babies name, stuffed animals, flowers.

There are no rules, the most important thing is for you to feel comfortable.
Your job is to have fun!

Newborns and Babies

Book your shoot around your babies feeding and nap times, work with the natural rhythm of your baby. The perfect time to shoot is right when the baby would be laying down for a nap. If your baby normally falls asleep after a feeding wait to feed the baby until you’re at the shoot.
We allow for plenty of time so we can set up the best situation for great photos.

Newborn portrait sessions can sometimes last longer than have no idea how they will be feeling that day, so be prepared to spend anywhere from 1-3 hours at your session.
We never rush the newborn sessions; we clear our schedule to allow for the feedings, nappy changes and mood swings that can occur.
